Today we finally made it to an annual event that I have been trying to get to for years – the Tinicum Arts Festival in Bucks County, PA. Set up in the shady sprawling acreage of Tinicum Park, the festival sits right on River Road – directly across the street from the Delaware River. More than 250 local artisans are set up throughout the park and you can spend several hours checking out their handmade goods.
We found paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, clothing and more. There was a variety of food and drink options and even live music with plenty of seating – including a spot with picnic tables.
The centerpiece of the event is the big red barn in the middle of the festival. Lots of artwork in here – for sale – head downstairs for the “cheaper” paintings and photos. Lily was thrilled the painting of our very-mediocre-this-year Phillies.
We made sure to visit the White Elephant tent – a flea market tent of sorts. Lots of donated items here – proceeds benefit local charities.

I am always a sucker for a used book sale – I just can’t ignore them! Gently worn books on the super cheap – what’s not to love?
Each one of us walked away with a book or two.
We enjoyed some ice cream while listening to the big band music. Despite the heat and humidity of the day, we barely noticed it. The shade from the trees that surrounded us made it comfortable and certainly lowered the temps.
The Tinicum Arts Festival runs through tomorrow, 7/15/12. Adults are $6 to get in and kids are $1.
