Easy Sorting, Counting, Graphing Activity with Smarties + Giveaway Winners

I loved reading all of your comments on my Smarties back to school gift post!

We had our excitement this morning when the “welcome” letter from Lily Bean’s preschool arrived in the mail.  We sat down together and read through the note from her teacher as she squealed after just about every thing I read.

As I wrap up my participation in the #IAmASmartie campaign, I am reminded about a fun activity that I used to do with my elementary school students.  We would use Smarties along with a couple of other candies to reinforce various math skills including graphing, sorting and counting.  Check out this simple activity you can do with your kids or students:

Give each child 4-5 rolls of Smarties.

Unwrap all of the Smarties.

Sort Smarties into groups by color.

Tally your Smarties colors and make note of the totals on a piece of paper.

Create a simple bar graph showing how many of each color you have!

So many math skills in that simple activity!

I’m also excited to announce the giveaway winners – each winner will receive a Smarties prize pack.  Winners have all been emailed and have 48 hours to confirm their prize before new winners are chosen.

Congrats to:
