Make It – Alphabet Vase Teacher Gift

I made this for Lily’s teacher for the first day of school.  It was fairly simple – I took a glass container and laid plastic letters (the magnets!) down one side at a time.  I taped a piece of card stock behind each side and then stuck a half pint ball jar inside the vase to hold water for flowers.

Her teacher really liked it and then today (a week later) I was delighted to see that she had already re-loaded it with fresh flowers – some beautiful sunflowers!

This was a lot easier to make than it looks. I found the glass container at Walmart – it’s actually a cookie jar that I kept the lid off of. I decorated one side of the vase at a time – laying it on its side, placing the letters down and then covered the back with a piece of cardstock which I taped into place. I set a small plastic cup in the inside to hold water and flowers. For the bow, I used a piece of scrap ribbon that I had laying around the house and simply tied it around the top.
