Our Elf on the Shelf, Oboe, typically makes his grand entrance at some point over black Friday weekend.
So for the last couple of weeks I have casually mentioned to Bob that we should really look for the elf. Because of course in the post-holiday-haze last year he somehow never made it back into his cute little box. No, we stashed him somewhere – and apparently it was an amazing hiding spot because neither one of us has seen him since last 12/24.
If you follow me on Facebook, you know what happened last night. Here’s a summary:
We finally found Oboe, sneering at us from inside a grocery bag on the back of a random closet door.
Our blood pressure has returned to normal.
All is calm.
I want save you from this same amount of stress when it comes time to find your family’s elf. (Assuming, of course, it did not get packed away in the box!) Save yourself from a very ugly midnight frantic search. Put the kids to bed tonight and LOCATE YOUR ELF!
Every year I swear I’m going to do a better job putting him somewhere memorable for the next year. Even if Oboe ended up back in his box like a good little elf, I’d probably lose the box.
What are your ideas for hiding the elf after Christmas in a spot where YOU can find him but your kids cannot?!
