The other day I headed into the kitchen to start dinner. I knew that Lily Bean was occupying herself in the living room and I knew that she was having a grand time with her potty doll.
Making dinner each day is always met with no fewer than 5 interruptions from Lily. The usual laundry list of demands from the tot include (but are not limited to):
- Snack
- More snack
- Drink
- More drink
- Help with the potty
- Help with putting a movie or a show on tv
- Help singing a song
- More snack
- Wanting to know when Daddy will be home
- Wanting to go to IKEA (seriously)
- Asking me to name all fairies who reside in Pixie Hollow (Tink, Vidia, Iridessa, Silvermist, uh….)
Get the idea?
So back to the other day… I am starting to peel and chop the dinner veggies, knowing that it was only a matter of minutes before I got a visit from the red headed punk.
5 minutes go by.
No Lily.
10 minutes.
Still no Lily.
After a solid 20 minutes, I decided to check on her. (I had been able to hear her singing this whole time – a theme song medley of Care Bears, Dora and Strawberry Shortcake.)
I entered the living room to find a very content and very engaged Lily Bean. Oh yes, and it turned out that she had a friend who had been keeping her busy.
Yes, that’s our dog Zoe… wearing a Princess Belle crown.
Bless her.
